Foods that Aids Sleep

sleep

I always seem to have a problem getting to sleep, I have tried some of these options and they really do work so I thought I would share with you.

Here are a few of the foods that will help you drift off:

Cherry juice

The fruit juice is packed with melatonin, the hormone that controls sleep. With it being a natural remedy, you’ll need a fair amount so it is recommended drinking two 200ml glasses a day.

Milk

Yes, your mum was right all along. A soothing glass of milk contains tryptophan, an amino acid, and precursor to serotonin and melatonin. Oh, and it doesn’t have to be warm.

Sweet Potatoes

If you like the taste of them, sweet potatoes are a perfect pre-bed snack because they have loads of potassium which helps relax muscles.

Bananas

These are another ideal snack for before bed. Loaded with magnesium, taste alright and you can get them all year-round.

Whole Grains

Boring whole grains like quinoa, barley and buckwheat all contain magnesium which’ll help you feel calm.

It’s advised that you don’t have a big meal before bed, so keep it light.
